On Wednesday 22 May, an evening dedicated to artificial intelligence was held at MOV’NTEC, hosted by Sébastien Konieczny, Director of Research at the CNRS. The event brought together 60 business leaders, first to get a behind-the-scenes look at our company and then to attend a conference on the challenges and implications of AI.

Sébastien Konieczny brought his expertise to our attention. His research gave us a better understanding of various aspects of this constantly evolving technology. Here is a condensed summary of the evening.

👨‍💻 Artificial intelligence has been around for many years, dating back to the work of Alan Turing in the 1950s.

❓A quick thought on what is AI?
“The study of the means by which processes of perception, learning, reasoning, decision and action can be automated.”

We learned to distinguish the true from the false ❌ and became aware of its advances. Part of the conference was dedicated to how neurons work. We now understand how AI could become our ally for tedious and repetitive tasks, allowing humans to devote themselves to more rewarding and gratifying missions, while improving their working conditions.

✳ What should we remember about AI?

– Let’s be careful about its use, particularly with ChatGPT, as it draws its information from the internet, where not all content is verified. Content generation is not certified!
– To date, AI is capable of detecting the first signs of breast cancer.
– AI cannot think or feel, it is simply complex computer programmes that solve a number of problems faced by humans.
– Let’s remember to check the source of the image we have just seen or the text we have just read before communicating and sharing it.
– If we want certified information about advances in AI, let’s consult articles written by AI researchers.

🤖 Let’s get away from visions where robots think and dominate the world.
That’s just science fiction!
